Agile Transformation Is a Journey of Continuous Improvement

Updated: Jan 24, 2023

"A transformation is not a destination; it's a journey towards continuous improvement.” Donal Bailey

Agile product development is an iterative process that requires constant effort and adaptation. Adaptability and constant effort are necessary for agile executives to succeed.

Following three steps, agile executives can stay on track with their transformation journey. As Steve Jobs mentored his executives, he encouraged them to:

  • The agile executive must remain curious and open to learning. "Stay hungry, stay foolish." Breakthrough achievement is the result of an obsessive desire for improvement.

  • "Design is more than just the way something looks. It is how it functions." Agile executives must focus on how their processes function and their effectiveness. Clear processes ensure everyone is on the same page and working towards the same goal.

  • "Innovation distinguishes a leader and a follower." Agile executives question the status quo and think outside the box. Continuous improvement requires openness to new ideas and perspectives.

Agile transformation is about continuous improvement, not achieving a destination. Keeping the journey on track and achieving success requires being proactive, focusing on effectiveness and function, and demanding high-quality new ideas.
